Mountain Rain Rain Water Project
Project Fully Funded - View Video Here

Mountain Rain is Day 4's flagship project.  The first of many of our sustaible community transformation initiatives.
The project is located in Muganza village on Mt Kigali on the outskirts of Kigali.  The community has no mains power or water and most residents live in abject poverty.

In 2003 Day 4 provided funding for the roofing of our recipient partners church/community centre building, which, while providing a sheltered place for the community to gather and for a school to operate, also created a large erosion problem due to the run-off of rainwater from the buildings substantial roof area.

Day 4's partners proposed a number of rainwater catchment options which, upon consultation with Day 4 resulted in the installation of 3 secure rainwater tanks - one 5000 litre tank and two 10,000 litre tanks.

The tanks provide clean, fresh water for the community all year round and have alleviated the need for local residents (predominantly school aged children) to walk up to 7 kilometers several times a day for fresh water.

This sustainable project will provide fresh water for the Muganza community for generations to come and is an example of the kinds of projects Day 4 is committed to developing.

This project is an initiative developed by members of the same African community it seeks to serve, and highlights Day 4's commitment to our mission and vision.
